The Buckeye Development Code is a regulatory document that provides direction on how development or redevelopment will occur within Buckeye.
It acts as an incentive to promote economic development and attract business and industry while also promoting quality of life and creating a healthy community for residents.
The Development Code is a key tool to implementing the revised General Plan, and requires periodic updating to adequately deal with the changes in scale of development in Buckeye. To learn more about the Development Code, please contact the Planning & Zoning Division by email.
Development Code Update 2024
The Buckeye Development Code is a regulatory document that outlines allowable uses, development standards, setbacks, zoning, design standards, regulations for signs, subdivision requirements and additional standards for new projects in the city of Buckeye. Over the past five years, the city of Buckeye has completed numerous updates, including the General Plan and several master planning documents.
The city has not completed a major code update since 2010. At the time of the last adoption, portions of the 2005 code were also brought forward. Since 2010, the city has needed to utilize both versions in order to facilitate growth in Buckeye. In order to realize this task, the city has also brought on Logan Simpson Design as a consultant to assist in this effort.
The first phase of the update was adopted in February 2024, and a second phase is underway. Several community meetings and City Council workshops are planned throughout the process in order to solicit feedback and incorporate response and direction from the public.
