What Is a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan?
The Buckeye Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan is a comprehensive plan for the bicycle and pedestrian network in Buckeye. The plan will identify goals and policies for the bicycle and pedestrian network in Buckeye.
Why Are We Doing a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan?
Buckeye is a growing community with an expanding population. In 2018, the city ratified the Imagine Buckeye 2040 General Plan, which included a framework for circulation in Buckeye. These policies provided the basis for the Buckeye Transportation Master Plan, which is currently still in progress.
The Buckeye Transportation Master Plan includes policies and recommendations for a multi-modal network in Buckeye, including active transportation. Active transportation will be further expanded upon in the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and will contribute to the overall multi-modal transportation network.
Project Overview
The Buckeye Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan is a collaborative planning effort between the city of Buckeye and Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG). This plan will coincide with the Buckeye Transportation Master Plan, which is currently in progress.
The following will be explored as part of this planning process:
- Existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities
- Future on-street bicycle and pedestrian network on collector and arterial roadways
- Future off-street bicycle and pedestrian network that includes trails and multi-use paths
- Facilities to support the network
