Buckeye's Prepared... Are You?
The Preparedness Division of the Fire Department is initiating a “Whole Community” outreach program encouraging residents to be aware of and prepared in the case of an emergency or disaster in our city.
Buckeye will be hosting community outreach meetings. These meetings will focus on natural disasters and human caused emergencies. Please check back to see when and where these meetings will be held.
The focus of these meetings will be to explain what it means for preparedness, protection, response, mitigation and recovery for you in the Whole Community Plan. We will also focus on the local portion of the Whole Community Plan as it relates to your family, home and property to be prepared for a disaster for at least 72 hours.
The Arizona Department of Emergency Management is focusing on three threat/hazard groups and threat/hazard types defined by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) using the toolkit Threat Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA):
Group | Hazard type |
Natural | Power outage |
Technological | Cyber terrorism |
Human caused | Mass gatherings |
Buckeye is focusing on two of the three threat/hazard groups (see below).
Our goal is to educate and inform you on how to prepare for each of these types of disasters, and discuss how the city and Fire Department are also preparing.
